OOTD: Twas the Night Before Christmas...

This Christmas Eve, which by now was a few days ago, my family and I had planned on going to New York but we all took naps until about 8 pm. So by that time we decided, although later than we planned, that we would go. So I just threw this outfit on, to be as quick as possible so we could have a nice time in the Big Apple.
This outfit is very simple and classic yet still festive enough for the holidays. I first began with this skater style dress that I got from H&M, I wear this dress all the time because it is so versatile, just add different tights and shoes, and voilĂ  you have a completely new outfit! Anyway, so to make this outfit more festive I added some gold glittery tights that I have had for a long time, I don’t remember where they are from though?  In addition to the gold theme I added simple gold bracelets. To complete the look I added some black booties.

I've been excited for this post for a long time. Christmas is one of the favorite holidays, it really sets the whole mood for the winter in general, which also happens to be my favorite season. I love everything about the winter time, the snow and how it makes everything so much more beautiful, I get to snowboard, which is one of the only sports I do and most of all, I get to make really nice outfits! Winter outfits are all about being warm, comfortable and chic at the same time. The easiest way to do this is with layering, Ill elaborate more in  the next outfit post!

OOTD: School Spirit

Varsity Jacket-F21/Sweater-Dad's Closet/Plain black slip dress/Knit Tights/Tennis shoes-Vans

This outfit was mostly inspired by school.  I've had this varsity jacket, kind of, cardigan? I really don’t know what to call it so let’s just say it’s a cardigan. SO anyway I have had this jacket for about a year now and I've never really worn it because I feel like it can come off as tacky so easily, and I really wanted to go for more of a classic high school, almost yearbook inspired look.  And I think it kind of worked.

The first piece I put on is this varsity jacket-esque cardigan; it’s really thin so it’s great for layering. Next, underneath I have this men’s sweater than I borrowed from my dad, I don’t know if you can tell but the sleeves are black and the front is a blue and black patterns, so I thought it was kind of like a baseball shirt? I don’t know that reminds me of school... Next I have a plain black dress underneath, that is sort of more used just for the skirt (I really need a plain black circle skirt). And it’s super cold so I did some thick, sweater material tights. Finally, I wanted to do a classic white sock and tennis shoe combo, so I wore just come white kind of long-ish socks and my old black vans... I seriously need new vans! Ok yea.

My inspiration for this outfit was like vintage school.  I love those older black and white photos that show the ‘Glory Days’ of high school. The old football jackets and cheerleading uniforms, there’s just something so classic about it that never gets old and yea I just have always loved that concept and thought it was really inspirational for this outfit. Also, I feel like all my outfits are vintage inspired… what can I say? I loooove vintage!

Also, sorry for being MIA, I've been sick and what not. I’m really going to try to get a lot of outfits up over winter break!

Also, sorry for the weird faces. I think I was just rather confused with my camera.

OOTD: Tuesday. That's it.

This is just my weird interpretation of today

H&M sweater/ Dad's button up/ F21 pants

This has been like my uniform recently, especially this sweater. I honestly apologize to all my peers for wearing it so much! But yea, my "uniform", a plaid/flannel button up, a pair of dark pants, a cozy sweater, boots and some nice cozzzzyy socks. Man I've been lovin' thick socks so much! So why is this my uniform you may ask? Well because I wake up at 5:30 and at that time I am in no mood to be putting on heels and dresses.

The theme, I guess, for this look is just some nice trees. I'm feeling lumber-jackish in this and so trees fit the theme. I went with film pictures because it a retro twist on plain green trees.

Oh my god. This post oof_ I don't know I just liked this outfit ok. Please don't hold this look against me/use it as blackmail ok thanks.

OOTD: Primary Instinct

vintage african t-shirt/ calypso skirt/ vintage backpack/ vintage jewelry

African mask, beads and artwork from google

Today I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for a class trip. I did wear a black shirt though because at 5:30 am this outfit combination was kind of intimidating, I think it still is a little bit. Anyway, so the whole vibe of going to an art museum triggered the art section of my brain and I instantly thought of pairing both of these pieces. They both give me a tribal-ish vibe and so I figured they would go together. It was pretty cold of corse being NYC in late fall so I had a jacket, knit tights and boots on, but I'm not wearing the jackets and you can't see the bottom part but I thought I would mention it to give a full outfit description.

The inspiration I found was mostly very colorful pieces. Although my outfit features mainly green based earth tones (I guess the yellow pops a bit but it's still in the realm)

to me it appears very colorful, probably because of the multiple patterns or something asdfghjkl; i don't really know. OK. So I chose very vibrant, straight to the point primary colored ( a little nod to the title. anyone? anyone?! ) art which I think goes quite nicely with my outfit. Also I added a lot of masks 1, because I found them  very interesting and 2, I like how they appear to be wooden which ties in with the natural brown tones in my outfit.

Wow I really like my writing today. I'm loving my blog more and more each post.
Now it's 9:55, and I've been working at my art studio all evening trying to get this project done (you'll see it eventually). I should probably begin my homework right about now then...
